Jesús Chacón - La merienda
Biography of the Artist: (Marbella, Malaga, 1975). Photographer. Self-taught, he began his professional career in the late nineties. Before focusing his work on artistic photography, he has worked in almost all areas of the photographic world (portraits, fashion, advertising, architecture, interior design,...). He has worked for international firms such as Red Bull, Dior or Hermès. His photographs have been published in different media and magazines such as El Mundo, El País, Absolute or Mondo Sonoro. He has exhibited in numerous galleries and his work has won several awards, among others, the 1st Prize of the V International Photography Award Jalón Ángel and the First Prize of the International Tour Film Festival of Rome 2015. Jesús Chacón has been confirmed as a reference in his field for his artistic projects, the treatment of light in his images and the staging he organizes to make his peculiar way of telling stories come true. His work seeks -based on a solid technical experience- to retake that innocent look where the image becomes the place of light and the instant.
"La Merienda" is part of the "Fotogramas" series, in which Chacón resorts to sophisticated staging with the collaboration of stylists, hairdressers, makeup artists and set designers. She recreates significant instants that pose the capacity of photography to condense a story in an image. Confronted with the continuous present of a snapshot, viewers usually prefer the easy solution of concentrating on the obvious, on what is exposed only on the surface of the photographs. However, Chacón aspires to make the details of the scene, the objects, the attitudes of the characters... a starting point for the viewer to construct his or her own story transcending the continuous present of the image.
