Waking up to life

The artist Santi Jiménez presents his most recent work at the Galería METRO in Compostela. Waking up to life is the title of this exhibition made up of thirteen pieces that interact with each other in a chromatic game that confronts darkness with light, black with white, in which the exquisite drawing of Santi Jiménez traps us, not only to leave us fascinated by its quality, but also to make us enter, from pure visual poetry, into the universe of his most philosophical concerns at such a crucial moment as the one humanity is living through.

Titles such as La senda de mi interior, Y así es como me siento, Justo debajo de mi mal humor or Lo que la felicidad esconde, give us clues to the artist's existential moment in the face of life's uncertainty. In his own words, "Despertando a la vida arises from an extremely existential approach in a society in which the authentic perception of existence has been lost and in which the only action is to wander through what seems to us to be reality, not being, most of the time, aware that we are alive".
