'Artworks 1968 - 1980'

Juan Antonio Aguirre's early works have "naïve" connotations, together with some series of an abstract nature. Always based on figuration, his painting evolved towards the compositional inflexibility of neoconstructivism, which fostered his character and pictorial style, in which colour dominates, inspired by Bonnard, Matisse, Munch, and the use of undefined forms. His works abound in still lifes, which are a reflection of his attention to more trivial subjects and the plasticity of his interior landscapes with, also, autobiographical episodes. In all his works we can observe a chromatic determination, applied to multiple images, taken from any field.
