Shelter for the shade

 

"Solana and umbría, two concepts that give name to and explain the lights and shadows in the landscape. Slopes that for long periods of the year are exposed to the sun or have their backs to the sun. The luminous white protagonist in his works shows those scenarios in which the sun prevails. Shadows, uneasiness or emptiness are reserved or hidden inside these precarious structures; shelters immersed in the landscape. Bringing these two situations to Irene's work, both from a physical and material point of view and from a more spiritual one, reflecting the current moment, as well as other dichotomies that are reflected in the images she constructs, such as fear and pleasure, discomfort and comfort, is a characteristic feature of her work. Landscapes that aim to project the strangeness of a forbidden and inaccessible land.
