Playful Unconscious

The Fernando Pradilla Gallery presents the fourth solo exhibition of the artist Victoria Encinas, entitled "Unconscious playful".

The show includes a selection of her sculptural and pictorial work from the last two years. Encinas, influenced by the Madrid art scene of the eighties and nineties, explores the "dematerialization of the idea of art" and has excelled as a curator in independent spaces.

The title of the exhibition refers to Rosalind Krauss' concept of the "Optical Unconscious", and Encinas emphasizes the importance of the creative impulse and life force in her work. Her artistic approach encompasses painting, sculpture and drawing, with a fusion of free geometry and biomorphic organicity. The artist eludes symbolic meanings and latencies, focusing on plastic freedom and visual logic/logic.

He uses contemporary materials, such as acrylics with "inexpressionist" textures and dyed leather in sculptures. Encinas' work reflects a fusion of geometric and organic elements, rooted in the Antiform concept.

His training includes studies in Madrid, stays in Italy and international scholarships. His work is in public and private collections, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, which exhibits the archive of the Poisson Soluble room directed by Encinas in the 1980s.

This archive was donated by the artist in 2019 and is available for consultation at MNCARS.
