Horizons

At Freijo Gallery we are privileged to present a solo exhibition of the singular and extraordinary artist Elena Asins (Spain 1940-2015). Her work specialises in an aesthetic attention that ranges from semiotics to information theory, from philosophy to visual poetry, from public sculpture to utopian projects and mathematical calculus; her artistic production makes visible one of the certainties of the field of mathematics: Rampsey's theory, according to which complete disorder in the universe is an irrefutable impossibility. Asins similarly approaches the semiotic dimension, which he studied at Columbia University with Noam Chomsky, in which, based on a neo-Cartesian approach to universal grammar, he restricts linguistic variability to the use of global concepts.
