Intestinal affair. Artist in residence I. Art House San Clemente (USA)',

The body of work presented in Intestinal Affair is a self-portrait exploration of the gut health and ecology of artist Dia Munoz after contracting COVID-19 in October 2020. Studies show that COVID-19 patients had symbiont depletion and enrichment of opportunistic pathogens, which are persistent after COVID-19 clearance. It is estimated that 40% of the world's population suffers from gut-related problems, creating a depletion of the microbiome ecology in the human body. In a study of 204 patients who had contracted COVID-19 50% had developed intestinal problems as a result of the virus.
