Andrés Galeano - Photographers ID #1
Biography of the Artist: Andrés Galeano (Mataró, 1980) graduated in Philosophy at the UB in Barcelona (2003), in Photography at the FFS Stuttgart (2006, Germany) and in Free Art at the KHB Berlin (2012). His work is interdisciplinary and encompasses media such as photography, video and performance. His work focuses on the amateur use of photography and the democratization and expansion of the photographic device. As a post-photographer he recycles iconographies and re-discover moments (Kodak or Google) in which photography - apparently naive - reflects on itself, creating an unexpected metadiscourse. His projects include Unknown Photographers, which through the analog photo album explores the photo's desire to transcend the instant; Afotos, which investigates the concept of the non-photo; Google In View, which explores the Google Street View device and its pretensions of divine omniscience (Godgle); La Foto Eterna, which performs an autopsy of the photo-porcelains of cemetery tombstones; or the most recent, El peso de las nubes, which analyzes the representation of the Internet and the Cloud.
