Artist Biography: Alicia Martín is a contemporary Spanish artist born in Madrid in 1964. She graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, and later specialized in Print and printing techniques at the School of Applied Arts in Madrid.Since her early years as an artist, Martín has focused her work on sculpture, but is especially known for her large-format book installations. Her work is characterized by the creation of enormous structures in which she uses thousands of books and other printed objects to create compositions that suggest landscapes or abstract forms.Among her most notable exhibitions are "Cárcel de Papel" (2003), a large installation at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga, "Casa de Papel" (2005), presented at the Centro Conde Duque in Madrid, and "Esculturas Monumentales" (2014), a traveling exhibition that toured several cities in Spain and Europe. She has also exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, from New York and Buenos Aires to Beijing and Tokyo.Martín's work has been recognized with numerous awards and distinctions, including the Sculpture Award of the Spanish Association of Art Critics (2000), the International Sculpture Award of the Principality of Asturias (2007) and the National Plastic Arts Award (2019).With her work, Alicia Martín has managed to take sculpture to new limits, using books and other printed objects as materials to create striking works that generate sensations and emotions in the viewer. Her work, in addition to being a reflection on book culture and technology, is also a reflection on the very nature of art and its relationship with the contemporary world.

Recommendations for the proper conservation of works of art:
- Keep works of art away from direct sunlight and any other source of heat (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging works of art near smoky and polluted areas (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We advise you to protect the paintings with a glass frame.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature. It is recommended to keep the paintings in areas with an ambient temperature of between 18-20º and 50% relative humidity.
- If the work is to be permanently illuminated, we recommend the use of cold light bulbs. Use a soft feather duster for periodic cleaning of the work. Never use household cleaner.
