Diana Larrea - An artist for every day
Artist Biography:
This video is composed of all the "Instagram Stories" that Diana Larrea has been sharing daily with her followers on the networks for a year about women artists of the past. "Instagram Stories" is an art-forming feature of this app to grant users the ability to create short videos to which moving pictures, stickers and emojis are added, to share casual posts about their daily activities. This Larrea video is edited with 365 clips of a few seconds each. Diana's purpose is to rescue these artists from the past to bring them to the present using the digital drawing and text tools that this application offers to give vitality to the images, such as photographic filters or dynamic image effects. Using a technological medium that today's audiences use in social networks, Diana manages to update these female artistic figures in our particular contemporary social context. Faced with this avalanche of 365 women artists shown in the video, we become aware of how the work of women in art has been valued in a partial and biased way. As the soundtrack for the video, Diana has chosen liturgical music composed by Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), Benedictine abbess, philosopher, naturalist, physician and mystical visionary. Hildegard's music transports us through ascending melodies! towards a spirituality that harmonizes with the concept! of this audiovisual proposal.
