Alicia Varela - Fragilities
Biography of the Artist: Gijonesa by birth, she graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca, with Erasmus Scholarship at l'École Nationale des Beaux Arts de Bourges, France and Master in Multimedia Design at the Instituto Europeo di Design, Madrid. At the beginning of her career, she dedicated herself to graphic design while she began to collaborate as an illustrator in the publishing and textile sector. Later, she dedicated herself fully to the field of illustration working for different publishing media, in Spain and in other countries such as France, Switzerland, United Kingdom or Mexico. Varela's work is characterized by his focus on geometric abstraction, which is reflected in his colorful and dynamic compositions. His paintings and drawings often feature shapes and patterns that create a hypnotic and vibrant visual effect. In his work, Varela employs a meticulous and detailed technique that combines the use of line and color to create complex and expressive compositions. His works often reflect his interest in geometry, nature and architecture, as well as the relationship between humans and their environment. In the field of children's literature, he has illustrated some twenty books and his work has been exhibited at the Bologna International Children's Book Fair and the Bratislava Biennial of illustration.
