Cecilia de Val - Give me a screen and I'll make all the buildings sail#.6
Technique: Pigmented ink on paper
Artist Biography: Cecilia de Val (Zaragoza, 1975) is a multifaceted artist who dedicates herself to both photography and music, both by vocation. In her photographs, Cecilia portrays herself as a modern heroine who shapes her adventures and the spaces she travels through, creating scenarios of enchanted forests, science fiction movie sets and peripheral architectures, and on other occasions, a Cecilia unfolded, as if cut out of a children's story, ventures into silent dreams of pain, betrayal and intrigue. The crossing of genres such as science fiction literature, the short story, fantastic cinema, comics and Renaissance painting produces disturbing and moving images, almost ungraspable, that explore the limits of the subconscious. The Theme of her discourse questions individuality and identity through their opposites, multiplicity and the double.Cecilia knows that beauty attracts and frightens almost equally, and she plays with it. Far from snapshots that capture a fleeting moment, her photographs are stories woven of eternal instants in which the everyday is transformed into the fantastic. In addition, the fact that Cecilia acts as director, main character and creator of her images gives her an unusual freedom to express a feminine and feminist vision in which we see ourselves reflected in a virtual way.
