Ruth Álvarez - With my heart in my hand, I tell you so
Biography of the Artist: Ruth Álvarez was born in Oviedo in 1995, she has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca, and a master's degree in Advanced Studies in Art History from the University of Barcelona. She currently lives and develops her artistic practice in Oviedo. Ruth's painting is framed in the context of the new contemporary figuration and naïf, it seems to represent a fantasy world where a series of characters and spaces are appearing shaped by vibrant colors and dreamlike landscapes. The return to the natural, the animal, the mystical or the cosmic is pertinent in the work. The characters are characterized by a dreamy and melancholic attitude. Ruth's imaginary seems to enclose a world to be fixed and raises the possibility of another possible place.
The characters are presented in harmony with nature, speaking from the woundedness of living in a society absorbed by over-information, over-consumption, stereotypes and immediacy. Ruth Álvarez uses mainly female figures, while the men represented in these works are far from the traditional concept "with a masculinity closer to tenderness and care". Everything, united through a characteristic orange light. Music is also part of her creative process.
