Wilfredo Prieto - Zero cases
Technique: Acrylic on canvas
Artist Biography:Wilfredo Prieto (Cuba, 1978) is a Cuban conceptual artist. He studied art at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana. Known mainly for his installations, objects and performances, he has an extensive production on paper that runs parallel to his larger-scale projects. Most of his works have the ability to juxtapose two different realities. His work questions the basic structures of contemporary culture and reflects on consumption, society and thought itself. He was a member of the artist collective Galería DUPP (Desde Una Pragmática Pedagógica), with whom he received the UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of the Arts in 2000. He has participated in artist residencies at Headlands, San Francisco, USA (2015); Gasworks, London, UK (2008); Le Grand Café, Saint-Nazaire, France (2007); John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, New York, USA (2006) and Kadist Art Foundation, Paris, France (2005).
