Enrique González - Lauburu
Artist Biography:
At first glance, the work of Enrique González might seem an excellent reproduction of some of the masterpieces thatmark the history of universal art, but nothing could be further from the truth. Certainly, he is considered a great admirer of historical painting, of the painting developed by the great classics. The work of these painters was so great, so powerful, that, according to our artist, it is difficult for what is derived from these works to be at the same level. González, in addition to interpreting these exemplary pieces, goes into their inner magic and delves into the very essence of these works, to turn them into a personal, contemporary object with a life of its own. He gives themhis own "touch" and turns them into Pop Art pieces. It is captivating to maintain a hint of mystery within the creation, something that we can never fully understand orfind a way to explain clearly. Within the world of art, of true art, this detail is always present. We all know the strongattraction that this provokes in the spectator, we only have to see the hundreds of people that surround every daythe Meninas by Velazquez, or the Mona Lisa by Leonardo, to cite only the best known by the public. This magnetthat they possess is something timeless, no matter how much time passes, their mystery will never be discovered, despite the brainy and advanced reports that are published continuously. For Enrique González this quality is essential when applying it to his work. The daily practice of painting, hour after hour, day after day, ends up becoming a meditation, almost a religious act, where the rest of the world, with its noise and speed, moves away from this noble ceremony. Within the four walls of his studio, the search for the origin of the human, for the mystery of life, becomes an everyday occurrence. We could say that this argument is, in short, what Enrique Gonzalez tries to transmit through his paintings. Gonzalez does not create simply in order to decorate a space in our house or our work, the main objective for our artist is that his work coexists only with those who know or can admire all the subtle elements that we have previously pointed out.ContextVision. Mixed on board. 165 x 214 cmGradually and after having gone through different artistic styles, in past decades, his work has been settled and hehas found his own language in which to fully develop.Enrique González lets the spectator participate in the interpretation of his works, in order to make it equally close tooneself, since it is the spectator who contributes the missing element to finish it definitively. Enrique Gonzalez wants his paintings to become something like a traveling companion, in whom you can always trust, you feel his support and you know that he will never fail you. Gonzalez tries to explain life itself, seeks to understand his own destiny and in this way and with humility, that of all humanity.
Classical art has explored in multiple ways the complex relationship between the gaze and desire, between observation and perception of the observed. One of the most fascinating and meaningful representations is the image of characters looking through a hole, a window or an opening, establishing a play of gazes that oscillates between voyeurism and intimacy. In these works, looking through a hole is not only a physical action, but a symbol of curiosity, desire and, sometimes, transgression. The characters who spy from the darkness are secret observers, who immerse themselves in the contemplation of private scenes, undetected. This act of looking unseen confers on the viewer a silent power, a sense of mastery over the observed, often reflecting the complexities of human desire.
