Antonio Sosa - Untitled
Artist Biography:
Antonio Sosa was born in Coria del Río in 1952 and lives in the neighboring Sevillian town of La Puebla. His deep vital and stable ties to these places on the right bank of the Guadalquivir are a first remarkable element to approach his work. From there, through his personal poetics, he reaches a language of symbols and universal signs. A solitary and independent creator, he acquired great prestige as a sculptor in the 80s. He works in the mythical gallery: La Máquina Española and is definitively consecrated as one of the most interesting and international Andalusian creators after his participation in 1985 in the exhibition Eklécticos or his individual exhibition in the Luis Cernuda Foundation in 1989. He has participated, since 1981, in up to 100 exhibitions, as well as in all editions of ARCO until 2011. It is worth mentioning the inclusion in 2007 of his work in the important international compendium: Escupture Today published by Phaidon in London. His work is widely represented in private and institutional collections such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Biblioteca Nacional, the Banco de España Collection, the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, the Junta de Andalucía Collection, the El Monte Collection, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Ibiza, the La Caixa Foundation Collection and the Martin Luther King Columbus Center in Ohio, among others.
