Ana Riaño - MARIA SIBYLLA MERIAN.

Biography of the Artist: Ana Riaño (Bilbao, 1985) lives and works in Bilbao, where she has also carried out her artistic training. In 2008 she graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, having studied the last year at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo. She has also attended various workshops with artists at the Bilbaoarte Foundation and has received several grants and scholarships from the Provincial Council of Bizkaia for artistic creation, from the BBK for further studies in the European Union and from the Basque Government for Inter-European Mobility. In 2022 she won the First Prize in the XXII ACOR Painting Contest and was selected for the La Rural Contemporary Art Prize and held two exhibitions. In 2019 she has been a finalist in awards such as Art Emergent Sabadell. During 2018 she has been the winner of the Juan y Pablo de Otaola de Basauri Scholarship for the Cité des Arts Residence in Paris. des Arts in Paris; she has also been awarded in EAC Encuentros de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante, in the MUA and selected in the 15th Mostra Gas Natural Fenosa of MAC. In 2016 she was awarded the 31st BMW PRIZE FOR PAINTING. INNOVATION AWARD and finalist "14th Mostra Gas Natural Fenosa." (MAC). In Bilbao she has been a Scholar-Resident at the Bilbaoarte Foundation. Her works have been recognized with mentions in different art awards. Her work has been exhibited individually in 2021 at the Juan Manuel Lumbreras Gallery in Bilbao and as a result she is selected to represent the gallery, as the only artist, at the FIG Bilbao 2022 Fair; in 2017 at the Victor Lope Gallery in Barcelona, in 2016 at the Sala Rekalde in Bilbao and at Aldama Fabre Gallery in Bilbao. In previous years it has been seen in the Tunel Gallery in Guatemala, in the Portalea room of the Museum of Eibar, in the Bilbao Arte Foundation and in the Artower Agora, Erato Gallery. Group exhibitions to highlight are in Centrocentro Madrid with the exhibition "24/7 connected" curated by Luisa Espino, in the gallery of "La Cité Internationale des Arts de Paris" with the exhibition ZAMAN/TIME, in ARTECIÑANA curated by Javier González de Durana. And in different museums such as the MUA Museum of the University of Alicante, the Wurth Museum of La Rioja, in the Sala de la Muralla of the IVAM, in the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation or the Museum of Eibar. He has also made some international exhibitions such as in the exhibition hall Cantieri Culturali della Zisa. Spazi Grande Vasca Palermo, Sicily, in Artower Gallery, Athens; Gallery "El Túnel" Guatemala City.

Materials and care
Recommendations for the proper conservation of works of art:
  • Keep works of art away from direct sunlight and any other source of heat (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging works of art near smoky and polluted areas (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We advise you to protect the paintings with a glass frame.
  • Avoid sudden changes in temperature. It is recommended to keep the paintings in areas with an ambient temperature of between 18-20º and 50% relative humidity.
  • If the work is to be permanently illuminated, we recommend the use of cold light bulbs. Use a soft feather duster for periodic cleaning of the work. Never use household cleaner.
