Description
Mariken Van Heugten - Ink shapes, Ding dong

Artist Biography: Marieke van Heugten was born in Baexem, the Netherlands, in 1973. His entry into the art world was neither immediate nor direct. However, although he spent many years working in marketing, sales and logistics for international companies in Austria, Spain and Switzerland, he never stopped developing his creative side. From 2018 onwards, her artistic activity intensified, resulting in both solo exhibitions at Constance in 2020 and 2022 and a growing interest in her work on Instagram. His inspiration comes from the shapes, lines and structures that come from nature, things he observes when he moves through the mountainous area surrounding Lake Constance in Germany. In his work he opts for ink, since it is endowed with its own will both when it flows on the paper and in the drying process, allowing at the same time a great transparency and giving rise to a process of artistic creation whose result is neither accurate nor predictable.

Mariken van Heugten (Baexem, the Netherlands, 1973) entered the world of art via the side door. Having worked for many years in marketing, sales and logistics in international companies in Austria, Spain and Switzerland, she always continued to allow her creative side to develop. From 2018 onwards, she has intensified her creative activity, leading to solo shows in Constance 2020 and 2022 as well as an increasing interest for her work on Instagram. Her inspiration comes from natural shapes, lines and structures, things she sees when moving around the nearby lake- and mountain area of Lake Constance in Germany. She works with ink as it has a very self-willed way of flowing and drying and allows great transparency. It is a process with an outcome which is neither certain nor predictable.
