Description
EVA ALONSO - Dogtooth

Artist Biography:

"The Day of the Beast" Alex de la Iglesia, 1995 vs "Equestrian Portrait of Charles V" van Dyck. Eva Alonso combines a style of drawing and painting with quick gestures and almost frenetic brushstrokes seeking to capture those moments of energy of the characters, those moments of grimaces and forced smiles. His influences come from the comics of the seventies and eighties, from magazines that accompanied his childhood and adolescence such as Totem, El Víbora and Creepy, and from artists such as Moebius and Robert Crumb. These elements nurtured a visual language that he has maintained throughout his life. His style has evolved throughout his career, moving increasingly closer to a less rigid method in which he combines ingenuity and sarcasm in equal parts. As a fan of the horror genre, her work constantly alludes to horror films, music and literature. This interest mixes easily with religious themes, allowing her to use humor and parody in contrast to her caricature-inspired figures.
