Plágaro's Cuadros Iguales consist of the manually ¨mechanized¨ repetition of the same motif painted in the same way, without seeking in any case the conscious difference. His work is developed in these coordinates since the late eighties, Plágaro does not take the theme of repetition as a temporary adventure but as the main manager of his work. He uses his creative freedom to limit his own freedom. With his Cuadros Iguales we have several facets to value: - By giving more importance to repetition than to what is painted in itself (he repeats what he paints whether it is successful or unsuccessful) he breaks with the sacralization of painting and relegates it, ironically, to the background. - By creating works in series (he does not paint a painting and clone it, but rather they are all formed in a twin gestation), he breaks with the classical way of pictorial creation. - By giving the freedom to install the paintings in any position and play with different types of compositions (always with some basic rules in terms of separation and position of all the elements of a series) he breaks with the rigidity of the traditional composition. - By using in many occasions unusual formats, it breaks with the very concept of painting. - By creating unique works, which at the same time are not unique, he radically breaks with the importance of the "original work". That is to say, with a classical pictorial approach and using classical techniques, he has managed to create a totally different painting.
