Artist Biography: Barcelona, 1931 – Sabadell, 2020 Alfons Borrell is one of the most outstanding representatives of lyrical abstraction in Catalonia. After frequenting the studio of Anglada Camarasa and studying at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, Alfons Borrell began his pictorial career in the fifties, initially within figuration. His work evolved towards Abstract Expressionism and, in the 1960s, towards gestural painting. In the mid-seventies he developed his own style, detached from labels, characterized by a sober monochromaticism that consciously dissociated itself from the material current of informalism. In his painting, colour imposes itself on form, based on a language that renounces any referential craving and seeks containment and rigour.

- If the work is to be permanently illuminated, we recommend the use of cold light bulbs. Use a soft feather duster for periodic cleaning of the work. Never use household cleaner.
