Together

Together is the materialisation of a collective impulse to get back on our feet after one of the most difficult periods in living memory and to resume our activity jointly and simultaneously. It brings together works by Alfonso Albacete, Pedro Almodóvar, Pablo Armesto, Martín Chirino, Juan Correa, Hugo Fontela, Manuel Franquelo, Juan Genovés, Luis Gordillo, Abraham Lacalle, Francisco Leiro, Antonio López, Blanca Muñoz, Lucio Muñoz, Juan Navarro Baldeweg, Pelayo Ortega, Riera i Aragó, David Rodríguez Caballero, Soledad Sevilla and Julio Vaquero.

The Marlborough Gallery wanted to show joint support for all its artists, the established and the young, those who cultivate painting, photography or sculpture, figurative or abstract, spiritual or political, all joining forces to look to the future together.

To pay homage to the recently deceased Juan Genovés, the first Spanish artist to be signed by Marlborough and one of the gallery's flagships, we wanted his monumental work Cesura to preside over the exhibition. In front of it, a specially placed bench recalls the artist's habit of sitting in front of his works to contemplate them as a form of intimate meditation.
