Monique Bastiaans - Nina II
Artist Biography: Monique Bastiaans (1954, Belgium) is a Dutch/Spanish artist and sculptor who lives and works in Chiva, Valencia, Spain. She creates monumental installations and ephemeral interventions in public and private spaces. Her works introduce playful elements into rural or urban landscapes. His sculptures fuse form, color and material into an inseparable unity, creating a sense of unreality and magic. He uses many types of materials, including wood, rubber, polyester, bronze, latex, plastics, cardboard, iron and ceramics. He has also worked with engrudo, which is a traditional biodegradable natural material. His respect for the environment is also one of the fundamental reasons for the ephemeral nature of much of his work. He has carried out commissions for city councils and public buildings and has exhibited in numerous galleries, halls and museums in Spain and abroad.
