Nil Yalter

Nil Yalter is a Turkish-French artist born in 1938, known for his pioneering work in the field of video art, experimental film and performance. He is considered one of the most important and influential contemporary artists in Turkey and France.Yalter began his artistic career in the 1960s and became a leading figure in the European art scene in the following decades. His work addresses social and political issues such as identity, immigration, diaspora and marginalization, often through the lens of his own experience as a Turkish immigrant in France.Among his best-known works is the video series "Topak Ev," which documents the life of a Turkish community in a suburb of Paris. He has also worked on projects that involve interaction between artists and viewers, such as "Le Corps en question(s)" (The Body in Question(s)), a series of performances that explore the relationship between the body and technology.Yalter has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career, including the Grand Prize for Video at the Venice Biennale in 1980 and the Gold Medal of the French Academy of Fine Arts in 2019. His work can be found in major art collections around the world, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, MoMA in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in Istanbul.

- If the work is to be permanently illuminated, we recommend the use of cold light bulbs. Use a soft feather duster for periodic cleaning of the work. Never use household cleaner.
